The Cavago Associated Championships are a showcase of the vast variety of horses training and competing with BD, with title opportunities for all breeds, sizes, and types. The Championships have experienced enormous growth in popularity and participation since its introduction to the BD offering in 2017.  Now with over 1,000 combinations taking part, we recognised that it was the right time to further develop and evolve the Championship finale, bringing all breeds together at one showstopping event.

Following an extensive review, premier Warwickshire venue Onley Grounds has been selected by the Sport Operations Committee and BD Board as the new host venue for the Associated Championships. Having undergone extensive development work in recent years, Onley’s first-class facilities allow the opportunity for all 13 Associated Championship categories to compete in the same week, over a five-day festival.  The inaugural fixture is provisionally scheduled for 22 – 26 October 2024 and we look forward to hosting this event at a high quality, easily accessible venue in the centre of the country.

We would like to thank the teams at Bury Farm and Vale View EC for their support of the Associated Championships since their inception six years ago.  A considerable amount of work goes into making these events a memorable occasion for those taking part, and we appreciate their efforts in giving our members the best possible competitor experience, and helping to make the Associated Championships the hugely popular series that it is today.

BD Sport Operations Manager Lou Jones commented: “The Associated Championships has now cemented its position as one of our most popular grassroots opportunities, offering competition for a huge range of breeds and types across all sections and eight levels. The growth in participation has allowed us the chance to refresh and expand an already super event – and we look forward to working closely with Sarah and her team at Onley Grounds Equestrian, which is a super venue in the Midlands. My grateful thanks go to both Anne Dingley and Julie Hyslop for their support, dedication, and effort in hosting the Associated Championships as they’ve flourished.”

Sarah Jacklin, organiser at Onley Grounds added: “We are constantly investing in improving our facilities here at Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex and strive for a World class setup that competitors at all levels can enjoy.  It is wonderful to see British Dressage acknowledge and support our passion and enthusiasm in the sport by rewarding us with this opportunity to host the Associated Championships. We look forward to welcoming everyone and hope you enjoy our facilities – good luck to all competitors!”

Qualification for the 2024 Cavago Associated Championships begins on 1 January 2024.  To learn more about the categories, levels, and rules, please use the link below to visit the dedicated page on the BD website.
