Great Britain’s up and coming dressage riders put in a good performance at the CDIPJYR Moorsele, Belgium over the weekend (17 – 20 May).
Altogether, sixteen horse and rider combinations made the journey across the Channel to compete alongside some of Europe’s best young dressage riders at the Zilveren Spoor equestrian centre in the small Belgian town of Moorsele.
Results highlights for the British contingent included a fantastic third place for Pippa Hutton and Duela in the Young Rider Team Test. Pippa and the 10-year-old Di Maggio mare notched up a great score of 70.43% in a very close run class with just 0.22% between Pippa and first placed Dutch rider Stephanie Kooijman and President’s Winston.
Pippa’s score helped the British Team secure joint second place alongside France, with the Netherlands in top spot. The British Team members also included Alex Hardwick and Calvin G, Bobby Hayler and Active Walero and Amy Woodhead and Pardon.
Olivia Oakeley also had a good show with her own 11-year-old Donna Summer, another Di Maggio offspring. The pair scored 69.16% for fourth place in the CDIYR Individual on Friday and also achieved sixth place in the Team test out of a field of 23.
The Freestyle competitions also saw some good results. Amy Woodhead and Pardon came sixth in the CDIO Young Rider class on 68.91%, just narrowly ahead of Pippa and Duela (68.62%). Alex Hardwick came seventh in the CDIYR on Rotspon’s Rockin (69.20%) and eighth in CDIO on Calvin G (67.54%). In the Pony Freestyle, Aimee Witkin and Ferrari were the top scoring British pair with 71.41% in sixth place.
