Learn the latest on sports science
Topics ranging from the latest findings about back pain to bits and bitting will be discussed at a sports science seminar to be held at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire on 20 February 2008.

Hartpury College’s Katherine Nankervis will present "Backs and Basics", an overview of some of the findings from recent research about back movement and what can be done for horses with loss of performance due to back pain.

Anne Tezer, from Kingston Maurward College, will explain how to coach a horse and rider to warm-up while Heather Hyde (Neue Schule Bits) will discuss the types of metals used for bits and BD and FEI bitting rules. Hilary Vernon, who is from Myler Bits, will continue on this theme with her talk on mouth structure and bit design. This will be followed by a session on nutrition.

The seminar runs from 9.45am-4.30pm and costs £40 including lunch. Tickets are selling fast so please apply quickly in order not to miss out. For tickets and full details, contact BD Sport & Technical Officer Ruth Tyler (tel: 02476 698833).
