Following the withdrawal of Swiss dressage team anchor Silvia Ikle and subsequently the entire Swiss Dressage team from the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong. British Equestrian World Class Performance Director, Will Connell has confirmed Britain’s intentions to compete a full Olympic and Paralympic Team.

 

“Team GB has no plans to pull out of the dressage, jumping, eventing or para-equestrian events in Hong Kong 2008. Much was learnt during the test event in 2007, which GB sent three horses to. The protocols being developed will ensure the welfare of the horses throughout the build up and during the Olympics,” said Will. “The key to competing in Hong Kong is detailed preparation and good management of equine and human athletes”.

 

The climate in Hong Kong is a challenge, but it is a challenge that the British equestrian team is preparing to meet.
