Munich CDI: Gregory thanks her Lucky Star for double win
Britain’s Jane Gregory is coming back down to earth after a weekend she described as “one of the most exciting moments of my life”, having won the grand prix and grand prix special at Munich CDI in Germany, 1-4 May 2008.

Jane rode the 16-year-old Danish-bred Lucky Star (pictured) to win the GP with 68.66% and the GPS on 71.16%, boosting her chances for Olympic selection.

“To be able to reproduce the quality of work he has been doing at home in such a high-pressure environment was fantastic. Lucky Star went as well as he can and we were rewarded by such positive marks and comments. To achieve this in Germany made it extra special. Lucky Star still has so much more to give and we will be concentrating on improving these scores over our next competitions,” said Jane, who has been training with top German rider Ulla Salzgeber for the past year.

Jane was also eighth in the grand prix and seventh in the grand prix freestyle riding her husband’s up-and-coming 11-year-old Piet 25.

“It is an amazing opportunity to have two horses competing at grand prix level. We are just starting out with Piet, so I was incredibly pleased with him.”

Britain’s best-placed combination at last year’s European Championships, Anna Ross-Davies and Liebling II, also had a successful show. Anna, who trains with Ulla as well, rode Donald McTaggart’s 11-year-old German-bred gelding to take third in both the grand prix (69.95%) and freestyle (71.6%).

Anna is on the World Class Performance squad, which is funded by UK Sport.
