Just a week after winning the grand prix and grand prix special at Munich CDI in Germany, Britain’s Jane Gregory and Lucky Star (pictured) won the grand prix freestyle with 71.75% at Mariakalnok CDI in Hungary, 9-11 May 2008.
Jane and her husband Aram’s 16.2hh 16-year-old Danish-bred gelding, who also took third place in the grand prix, revealed their new kür, composed by musician and composer David Farnon.
“As Lucky Star is a mature grand prix horse now, I was braver and made the choreography harder. It also makes a huge difference to have music written especially for the horse. The composer is a friend of a friend who lives on Guernsey and is allergic to horses. He has done an amazing job, especially when you consider most of it was done by email and over the phone,” said Jane.
Jane also competed Aram’s 17.3hh gelding Piet 25 to finish 10th in the grand prix and sixth in the special.
Another British competitor was Sam Duckworth, who is based in Switzerland. He rode his 16.2hh black stallion Del Vento to take seventh in the grand prix and moved up to third in the freestyle.
