On the eve of his retirement at the London International Horse Show, Valegro and Charlotte Dujardin were awarded with a new trophy recognising their international success (13 December 2016).
Designed by Jason Brautigam and the board at British Dressage, the International Champions of Great Britain trophy aims to reward those combinations excelling overseas when representing their country at Championship level. It will be presented annually to the highest placed British combination at the respective Championship. For these riders fitting national competitions into carefully prepared schedules can be difficult when winning medals for Team GB is the main focus.
Who better to be the inaugural winner than Charlotte Dujardin with Carl Hester, Roly Luard and Anne Barrott’s Valegro after their incredible performance at the Olympic Games in Rio. The award was presented by Jennie Loriston-Clarke in front of the sell-out crowds at Olympia on Tuesday evening with Carl Hester and Alan Davies also picking up accolades on the night for their achievements.
