Au revoir Assouline

Para-Dressage Coach Michel Assouline will be leaving the British Equestrian Federation’s (BEF) World Class Programme after this summer’s European Championships (22-27 August), to join the United States Equestrian Federation as their Head of Para-Equestrian Coach Development and High Performance Consultant.

During his time with the Programme, Michel has been an integral part of the team supporting the phenomenal results for Britain’s para-dressage athletes, with the team remaining unbeaten at World, European and Paralympic level, as well as returning with a record medal haul from Rio 2016.

Para-Dressage Performance Manager Sarah Armstrong says; “I’d like to thank Michel for his support and contribution to the British teams and the Programme over the past 12 years and to wish him well on his new venture. As a squad we are entirely focused on this year’s Europeans (as the start to the long term preparations for Tokyo 2020) where we are hoping to once again deliver personal best performances. The BEF’s World Class Programme is now close to finalising the delivery of its new strategy, with a greater emphasis placed on coaching to ensure that the best tailored support is delivered to athletes and their home teams.”

Jason Brautigam, Chief Executive of British Dressage comments; “We are hugely grateful for all that Michel has done for British Dressage and the development of our para programme over the past twelve years. His contribution has been immense and a significant part of the success we have enjoyed on the international stage. There have been no fewer than 117 medals won by our para-dressage riders since 2005, which is testament to the invaluable knowledge and expertise that Michel has brought to the British team. We wish him well for the future as we look ahead to the European Championships and beyond at the start of an exciting new chapter for the World Class Programme.”
