Olympic Update – Green light for GB dressage horses
All four of Great Britain’s dressage horses have passed the veterinary inspection in Hong Kong today giving them the green light to compete. The draw to decide the order in which the nations will compete takes place tomorrow after which Richard Davison will then announce the order in which the British team will ride.

Olympic team leader Will Connell commented: “The Dressage squad breezed through their trot up today- all vet checks are nerve wracking so it’s a relief to have another one behind us. The four riders will have their first proper session in the main arena tonight – albeit for just three minutes a horse! Another session which will be organised with military precision to make every use of the vital seconds we have.”

Devastating news came for Spanish Olympic team rider Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, bronze medal winner at the 2004 Olympic games in Athens, when she was forced to withdraw her horse Fabergé from the competition after he went lame earlier this week. With no travelling reserve this also takes the Spanish out of the dressage team competition.

The first part of the dressage competition begins on Wednesday when the Grand Prix Team Competition and 1st Individual Qualifier gets underway.
