Jodie Lister’s seven-hour trek from her base in the New Forest to Fry’s CDI in East Yorkshire, 13-16 August 2008, proved well worthwhile as she won the intermediaire II, grand prix and grand prix freestyle, the latter with an impressive 72%.
The grand prix was Lister’s first international big tour win with the 13-year-old 16.2hh Dutch-bred gelding by Houston, Nicky (pictured), whom she has trained since he was four.
Lister said: “I was particularly pleased with his freestyle as we got high technical marks as well as music marks, with mostly sevens and eights. It was such a wonderful show, well organised and with a great atmosphere.”
Becky Moody, who won three titles at the Northern Summer Final, which took place prior to the CDI at the same venue, enjoyed more success with Wallenstein.
In the CDI, Moody headed the prix st georges and was equal first in the intermediaire I riding Judie Lockey’s seven-year-old 17hh German-bred gelding by Weltgeist. They also won the intermdiaire I freestyle.
Please note that the freestyle classes were national classes and not part of the CDI.
