2008 Paralympics day three

Britain’s grade Ia riders have made it a one-two with Anne Dunham taking gold and Sophie Christiansen winning silver in the individual test at the 2008 Paralympics.
Dunham said: “I am elated to at last win individual gold on a horse I produced myself. It’s been a long time coming as I’ll be 60 this year, so it’s an early birthday present. I still can’t believe it. I’m scared to pinch myself in case I wake up. I’m so grateful to my owners, support team and my country.”
Dunham scored 73.1% with Christiansen on 72.8%. These two high scores where in a league of their own and count towards the team medal Britain looks set to collect later today after gaining a comfortable lead in Sunday’s team tests. The best three team and individual test scores are added together to decide the medal positions.
Simon Laurens (grade III) and Lee Pearson (Ib) make up the rest of the British team, which is on track to win gold for the fourth consecutive time and remain unbeaten since this competition started.
Other riders in medal contention today are Deborah Criddle (grade III) and Ricky Balshaw (Ib).
