Our 2008 national extravaganza
More than 500 well-known, seasoned professionals and talented amateurs will compete side by side at the 2008 Blue Waters National Dressage Championships, which runs from 18-21 September at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

There are 17 national titles up for grabs from prelim to grand prix level, as well as young horse classes and para equestrian dressage.

BD International Teams Director Nick Burton, who judged and competed at last year’s show, sums up the nationals: “It is the pinnacle of the competition year. Everyone loves to qualify and to be asked to officiate at this event is both a pleasure and an honour. The standard is now so high and the atmosphere is second to none. It makes for a great sense of camaraderie between competitors and the social side of he event is unique.”

Following the success of last year’s innovations, the competitors' marquee and the meet-and-greet team will be in action again to ensure that riders, their friends and family are able to make the most of the experience. A dedicated team will be on hand when you arrive to help you settle in and you can grab a bite to eat and relax between classes just a short walk from the stables.

The main ring entertainment includes a display by the English vaulting squad and a pas de deux by Henry Boswell and Catherine Lewis. Anna Ross-Davies, who was Britain’s best-placed rider at last year’s European Championships, will take centre stage in two masterclass performances, sponsored by the National Saddle Centre. There will be a Lusitano display by Pedro Nuno Neves and, on Sunday, Britain’s hugely successful Paralympic riders will be coming for a parade to show off all their medals.

The scores will go up on a big screen as the judges give their marks and lively, informative radio commentary throughout the show will help unravel some of the deeper mysteries of our fascinating sport.

And you will have a chance to do some serious shopping with loads of dressage specialist retailers all in one place.
