NED goes live and needs your help

The long-awaited National Equine Database (NED) is now live. To make it the most comprehensive and accurate source of data, NED is inviting all owners of horses with a UK passport to visit the site, register and check the information at www.nedonline.co.uk
The arrival of NED marks a new era in the British horse world, where buyers and sellers can use a trusted source for research. It contains a record of every equine passport issued in the country, featuring the name of the horse, age, gender, height, colour, sire and dam. The data has been provided by more than 80 organisations from breed societies to Olympic disciplines.
You can add more information about your horse and upload photos for a nominal fee - £1 for an introductory three-month period - and the money raised will be donated to equine-related charities.
NED CEO Nick Wallbridge said: “Collecting the data of more than one million horses from the various different sources has been no easy task, but we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far. With the help of horse and pony owners, the database is going to be a rich mine of information and we’ll soon wonder how we ever managed without it.”
Yogi Breisner, British Equestrian Federation (BEF) World Class Performance Manager for eventing, said: “In order to be able to compete with the best in the world, it is important that Britain continues to develop its equine policies and NED is a great tool to support this.”
