Braunschweig CDI: Lucky Star charms the judges
Jane Gregory and Lucky Star made the nearly 1,000 mile round trip to Braunschweig CDI, 12-15 March 2009, in Germany worthwhile by taking second place in the grand prix freestyle with 70.4%.

The 17-year-old 16.1hh Danish-bred gelding by Lucky Light also took seventh place in the grand prix, where he was competing among 23 horses ridden by some of some of the biggest names in the sport.

Gregory, who is trained by Germany’s Ulla Salzgeber and has ridden “Lusty” since he was four, said: “I’m in a state of disbelief. It is just the biggest compliment to have the judges mark him so consistently and to have a placing like this in such good company. I loved the comment from the Danish judge who put ‘what a charming little horse’ on his sheet.

“We have reached such a happy level of understanding and trust. He thrives on being ‘Mister Important’ and loves the big-show atmosphere, staying so cool in all the chaos surrounding him. My next target is to up the power in the grand prix.”
