German-based Brit Emma Hindle proved unbeatable in the small tour at Stadl Paura CDI, Austria, 9-13 April 2009.
She was in a league of her own riding Brookhouse Stud’s 10-year-old stallion Chequille Z, winning the prix st georges with 70.579% and the intermdiaire I with 72.105%.
“’Chequi’ was simply superb. It is so much fun to work with him as he is always so motivated. He really is a fantastic partner,” she said.
Hindle also took second place in the grand prix riding her Olympic partner Lancet with 69.957%. However, the 16-year-old Hanoverian stallion could not contain his exuberance in the grand prix special and started bucking, dropping him down to 15th place.
“That’s life. Lancet had a bad day today. It can happen. Tomorrow is another day,” said Hindle.
Sarah Millis also enjoyed success in the small tour. She took second place with Timberland III in the prix st georges and third in the intermediaire I. Millis also competed in the big tour. She finished seventh in the grand prix and 12 in the special with Korenbloem O’Neil.
