British riders are out in force this weekend and preparing for a busy first outdoor show of the season at the prestigious French riding School - le Cadre Noir. Led by three times Olympian Carl Hester and including experienced team rider and Olympian Jane Gregory the following four riders will represent Great Britain at Saumur CDIO 30 April - 3 May 2009:
- Carl Hester (Gloucestershire) riding Donald McTaggart’s 16.2hh bay gelding Liebling II
- Jane Gregory (Wiltshire) riding Aram Gregory’s 16.2hh bay gelding Lucky Star
- Stephanie Croxford (Derbyshire) riding her own 16.1hh liver chestnut gelding Mr. President
- Richard Barrett (Hampshire) riding Claire Bailey’s 17.3hh bay gelding Alcatraz
Emma Hindle was unfortunately ruled out of selection for the team on Monday when Lancet knocked himself during a training session. The small injury he sustained raised doubts as to whether the horse would be fully sound for competition later in the week and as this was the last day for substitution a team decision was made to replace Emma’s position. Happily Lancet is now 100% fit and will compete in the CDI at Big Tour.
