La Mandria CDI 2009: Eilberg takes top honours

An ecstatic Maria Eilberg is finishing up the last few hours of her three-day drive back from Italy and her smashing weekend in the La Mandria CDI. On Olympic reserve Two Sox, Maria rode an impressive 74.10% in the Freestyle for first place and a 69.87% in the Grand Prix for second. Eilberg also posted top results on Pro-Set with a 69.04% in the Special and a 67.90% in the Intermediaire II for second place honours.

The 25 year-old 2008 National Champion was very pleased with the results. “It was a lovely show,” said Eliberg. “I had never been before but found it to be a very chilled-out environment with great atmosphere.”

“I was really pleased with both horses’ performances— Pro-Set with a 67% in the Grand Prix and 69% in the Special and Two Sox with a 69% in the Grand Prix and 74% in the Freestyle,” said Eilberg. “Two Sox has been on great form since the Nationals. He really performed well with the music, giving him that little extra impulsion.”

Maria made the three-day drive to Italy with her mum. “It was a real team effort,” said Eilberg. “I’m so grateful for all my family’s help—my mum helping with the drive and my dad with training on site.”

Maria is looking forward to getting home and enjoying some much needed rest as she plans for summer and the European Championship.
