The Baileys Horse Feeds/BEF Futurity has added an evaluation date in 2009 due to the overwhelming growth of the scheme. The new date is Tuesday, 1 September at Solihull Riding Club.

The futurity added endurance horses to the list of young potential sport horses for 2009, creating an increased demand for additional evaluation places. The categories of potential sport horses include: dressage horses, eventers, show jumpers, and sports ponies in age groups from foals to three years.

BEF’s Head of Equine Development Jan Rogers said, “The Futurity’s support exceeded expectations this year which meant we needed to source additional places so people are not disappointed.”

Rogers continued, “The Futurity is a valuable assessment system to British breeders, because it enables them to demonstrate a horse’s performance potential long before they are able to compete.” The BEF Futurity started in 2005 with 100 young horses and expects to evaluate nearly 800 horses in 2009.
