Hickstead CDI '09 Kampmann qualifiers: Another double for Davison

Richard Davison and Hiscox Artemis clocked up their 5th Grand Prix win in a row taking both the Inter II and Grand Prix sections of the Kampmann Future International Trophy at Hickstead CDI 2009.

Fresh from a double victory at Hartpury CDI the 16.2hh bay gelding, owned by the Countess of Derby beat Gemma Green and Showtime and Fiona Bigwood on Don Laurean in both classes, coming out of the Grand Prix with a convincing 72.14%.

Davison commented; “Artemis did two very good tests, especially in the Grand Prix on the second day. A couple of judges had him on more than 73% and he scored a lot of nines; it’s very promising and reflects the technical work we’ve been focusing on at home.”

The Kampmann cup is a prestigious test series for eight to ten year old dressage horses, aimed at easing the transitition to international big tour competition. Renowned sport horse breeder Heinrich Kampmann explains; [the aim of the series is] “to offer young sport horses a platform on the highest level to compete with the international competition, without forcing them to start against Olympic champions and medal winners. We have decided in favour of an international platform to offer a showcase for their young horses to the successful breeders beyond Hanover, Westphalia, Oldenburg and Co."

Hickstead is so far the only qualifer of this innovative series to be awarded outside of Germany, the final of which takes place in Oldenburg in November 2009.
