Three riders enjoyed dual victories at the Northern Regional Championships, Frys 10 – 12 August 2009. Kate Walters headed both the Preliminary and Novice Restricted with Andrew Fletcher’s seven year old Dutch-bred Kennedy gelding, Freddy (pictured).
“I was thrilled with Freddy,” said Walters. “He dealt with the atmosphere so well and I was able to create more energy and engagement, especially in the second test.”
“We celebrated Monday night after the Preliminary then to take another class too was unbelievable! We went first in the Novice and had a four hour wait till the end of the class - it was a nerve-wracking afternoon!”
Melissa Chapman had a very successful show taking the Novice Open with her own DHI Work of Art – a six year old 18hh gelding by Sir Sinclair. She also won the Medium Restricted with Marie Brown’s six year old German-bred gelding Rossellini B. Chapman achieved strong scores of 70.36% and 69.24% respectively.
The third double win went to Sarah Turner and her own 11 year old British-bred dun gelding Fiddlesticks. They won both the Prix St Georges and Intermediaite I.
