Fun & frolics promised for Sunday at the National Champs '09... Under beautiful blue skies the Grand Prix competition is unfolding before us, promising a spectacular conclusion to the show when the Grand Prix Freestyle to music class decides the 2009 Dressage Deluxe National Dressage Champion on Sunday afternoon. Carl Hester leads the class with his European Championship ride Liebling II with fellow team mates, Maria Eilberg and Two Sox hot on their heels.

In between the top class dressage five of our sport's best known celebs will be through their paces in an entirely different challenge! Joining in with the Pony Club's 80th birthday celebrations we'll be asking some well known names from the dressage world to take part in our very own mounted games celebrity ride and drive competition. The five riders are;

Horse and Hound columnist and gold medallist from this year's Youth Olympics, Charlie Hutton
Popular trainer and International small tour rider Matt Frost
British Dressage's Chief Executive Amanda Bond
Successful International rider and Horse Hero blogger Gemma Green
List 1 judge and trainer Debbie Lush

They will pair up with five experienced members of the Atherstone Hunt Branch of the Pony Club games team, a club famed for its expertise in this fast and furious sport. The riders are;

Junior 'A' team rider, 9 year old Will Thirlby with Tinky
Top 'B' team rider, 14 year old Tilly Mantell with Pepper (grey) and Kelly (bay)
12 year old Will Crawley with Sonny, who loves mounted games and also events and show jumps
Experienced combination Katie Hill with Blaze, in her last year of competition at 15 years old
Top senior 'A' team rider and HOYS qualifier 14 year old Vicky Hulme and Smokey

Each celebrity on an ACE ATV quad bike will team up with one Pony Club member to compete as a team, carrying out a series of races against the clock. Lets hope our dressage celebs don't let down their partners!

As well as the top class competition on offer we also look forward to a host of great entertainment in the main arena. Special bill for Sunday afternoon, prepare to be proud as we salute our European Championship medallists of 2009! Our senior dressage and para dressage teams have won a staggering 13 medals between them this year; the biggest haul of Championship medals ever gained by an equestrian team. Our British riders will be joining us in the main arena at 3.57pm; don't miss the celebration of this spectacular achievement.

In addition to this the Lusitano display team and Peter Maddison Greenwell will present two amazing classical dressage performances to music and we'll also be treated to a second inspirational master class by British Team Captain, Olympian and European medallist Richard Davison. With the judging of the Shearwater Potential International Dressage Horse Championship, the Dodson and Horrell Novice Restricted Championship and the Biotal Medium Restricted Championship also taking place, Sunday at the Dressage Deluxe National Dressage Championships is shaping up to be a packed day of fantastic competition and entertainment... and don't forget the shopping!
