The Scotland Tay team topped the field in impressive style at the 2009 Home International in Rowallan, Oct 16-18. Team members Wendy Raeside and Rock Star, Jock McFarlane and Wodka, Linda Barnes and Veni Vidi Vici and Jennifer Johnston and Donnergott took the crown after battling 32 teams and 144 competitors from across the UK.
“I don't think I've had as much fun at a dressage competition ever and it was all down to meeting such lovely people, said Jennifer Johnston, part of winning Scotland Tay Team and overall PSG individual winner.
Fellow team member Linda Barnes was equally excited about the win. “I can’t believe the results and woke up last night reliving the moment - I think I will do that for a while! The team spirit was fantastic and everyone did so well.”
The Home International provides a great opportunity for riders of all levels to come together and compete. The teams are put together by a national coordinator for England, Wales and Scotland, and must consist of one rider at either prelim or novice, one rider at either elementary or medium, one rider at either advanced medium or PSG, and one final rider at any of the above levels.
BD Chief Executive Amanda Bond was quick to praise the success of the show. “The Home International was great fun. It was really heartening to see so many competitors at all levels and on all shapes and sizes of horses really enjoying their dressage. Scotland were wonderful hosts and well deserved winners, their performance demonstrates the ever-growing enthusiasm for dressage in the region.”
The baton now passes back to England with Central region set to host in 2010.
