European individual bronze medallist Laura Bechtolsheimer and Andretti H represented Britain at the 2009 Lyon CDI-W October 29-30 France, scoring 69.70% in the Grand Prix to finish third in a strong class. Dutch rider Anky van Grunsven and Salinero topped the field on 77.02% for first with Germany’s Monica Theodorescu and Whisper on second with 72.08%.

Laura and the 14 year old Andretti also placed seventh in the Kur on 67.65% with fellow Brit Dane Rawlins and Sydney following closely in eighth on 65.75%.

“I am very happy with the Grand Prix as I had a good feeling about it,” Laura said. “Andy (Andretti) performed well. It's never easy to follow Anky and Salinero into the ring but he gave me a good ride, was pretty manageable and made no mistakes.”

Laura was less than thrilled about her results from the next day. “Obviously I was disappointed in the Kur. He was brilliant in the warm up but got tense in the test so I need to figure out how to move forward from here (with problems at Aachen and now Lyon).” Laura commented that perhaps she’ll look at doing more nationals in the near future until he’s ready to go international again.
