2009 Convention Awards presented

The following awards are given annually and were presented at the 2009 KBIS British Equestrian National Convention. Our congratulations goes out to all of the recipients on their success.

Tyrell Trophy

Kindly donated by Lady Caroline Tyrell to the highest placed British bred mare competing at the National Championships in 2009.

Won by Michael Eilberg with Woodlander Dornroschen, who was 1st in the Advanced Medium Championship. Woodlander Dornroschen is a mare sired by DiMaggio and owned by Lynn Crowden. The trophy is being collected today by Lynn & Michael and kindly presented by Guy Prest from KBIS & Jenni Loriston Clarke.

Worshipful Company of saddlers – Saddle

Kindly donated by the Worshipful Company of Saddlers for the highest placed rider between 16 and 21 years at the National Championships. The saddlers company works closely with the society of master saddlers in setting the standards of training and developing qualifications for those working in the saddlery trade. The company provides funding through the BHS for training in all riding disciplines and awards, saddlery vouchers at many equestrian competitions including British Dressage U25’s Championships, regional & National championships & Area festivals.

Won by Alex Hardwick with Rots pun’s Rockin, who was 1st in the Medium Restricted Championship. Rots pun’s Rockin is a Hanoverian gelding sired by Rots pun. Kindly presented by The Master D H Chandler.

Lucan Trophy

Kindly donated by Mrs Heappey and goes to the highest placed British Pony rider in the Team class at the European Championships in Moorsele in 2009. Sadly Lucan who represented Great Britain with several riders on GB Pony teams passed away this year.

Won by Holly Woodhead on Languard 4, who was 13th with 66.50%. Languard 4 is a 13yr old bay gelding from Germany. Kindly Presented by Guy Prest from KBIS & Jenni Loriston Clarke on behalf of Mrs Heappey

BDSC Pony Trophy

Kindly donated by the BDSC committee and awarded to the Pony rider who, in the Selectors opinion, has produced the best performances at Premier Leagues shows during 2009.

Also Won by Holly Woodhead on Languard 4, Kindly Presented by Lorrie Sisson of the BDSC Committee.

Trendell Trophy

Kindly donated by Mrs Christine Trendell and awarded to the highest placed Junior riders at the Junior European Championships in Ermelo in 2009.

Won by Samantha Brown on Kwadraat, Samantha was 21st with 65.72%. Kwadraat is a 17yr old bay gelding from the Netherlands. Samantha also receives £500.00 for the most improved Young Rider in 2009. Kindly Presented by Mrs Christine Trendell.

Retraining of Racehorses

Kindly donated by Di Arbuthnot and awarded to the highest placed UK/Eire thoroughbred registered with Weatherbys from the Prelim to Medium Classes at the National Championships in 2009.

Won by Sam Penn with Coco De Cara sired by Tesimon who was 14th in the Stretch & Flex Elementary restricted Championships. The trophy will be collected by the owner Sue Becvar and presented by Di Arbuthnot.


Portrait Prize for Amateur Owner/ Rider

Kindly donated by Diane Breeze and presented to the amateur/ owner rider with the highest score across all classes at the National Championships in 2009.

Won by Steph Croxford in 3rd place with 67.40% in the Grand Prix Championship with Mr President. Kindly Presented by Dianne Breeze.

Level 3 Dressage UKCC Certificates

Jill Day to present: Shelley Brooks, Lynn Perry, Fiona Lace, Claire Moir.
