Bechtolsheimer then went on to take the grand prix special with 76.54%, with Germany’s Christoph Koschel and Donnperignon the runners-up on 71.66%.
“I am thrilled with Alf [Mistral Hojris],” said a delighted Bechtolsheimer. “We scored a personal best in the Grand Prix – a clear six percent over Monica Theodorescu and Whisper. It was Alf’s first outing since Windsor and he was completely with me all the way - I am so happy with him, and we managed to stay in control during the prize giving too!”
Also on their first outing since the European Championships at Windsor, The Netherlands’ Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas continued their outstanding form. They won the grand prix for kür with 79.02% and went on to take the kür with 87.80%.
