Clarification of BD rules for Training, Open & Rest. Sections
last updated on January 12, 2010 11:33
Further to queries raised directly with the BD Office, the following announcement gives clarification to the rules regarding Training Sections and Open/Restricted Sections.
Training Sections
Should a venue not want to allow competitors to compete under the Training Section rules , there must be an explicit statement to this effect in each and every schedule published so that it is clear to members before entries are made. It is not sufficient to simply omit "T" from the section notation column. Any venue that does not wish to offer this service to BD members should contact the fixtures officer in writing so that their schedules can be annotated appropriately.
Open/Restricted Sections
As per Rule 5, para 4 "Classes from novice to advanced medium will be divided into Open and Restricted sections." Whilst a venue may chose not to run a class at a specific level, if a level that is divided into Open and Restricted sections is offered, then the class must include both sections. Not to do so discriminates against the riders eligible for the Restricted section by reducing their opportunities to qualify for Regional Championships.
As schedules up to 6 April 2010 are in print, this will be compulsory from 7 April (BD Magazine Issue 2).
However, if any member eligible for a Restricted section has been required to compete in an Open section since 1 December 2009 and believes that they would have been the highest placed rider in the Restricted section with a qualifying score, they should contact the BD office for this to be verified and the qualification awarded.
