Gould to run London Marathon for Charity

High profile dressage trainer Andrew Gould will be running in the Virgin London Marathon, 25 April 2010. With just over three months to go, Andrew is pounding the pavements with fellow rider Daniel Timson who will also be taking part in the run. Gould will be sponsoring Spinal Research, a charity working towards a cure for paralysis.

“I know riding is a high risk sport whether you hack or compete at Grand Prix," said 29 year old Gould. “I have had many falls in my career but luckily have walked away with no long term injuries. However there are plenty of people who haven’t been that lucky and it's those people I’m running for; to get them walking again and back on a horse.”

Gould did well to secure his spot in the race as the marathon’s entry ballot was completed in record-breaking time this year – closing in only two days and 16 hours with over 120,000 runners accepted. In looking at the 26 mile slog, Andrew is quick to admit he’s in for quite a challenge.

“I’m fairly fit from riding horses and playing football,” said Gould, “but I don't think I realise the pain ahead of me! But it’s not just about challenging myself; it’s about raising money for a great cause, so I definitely need everyone’s help.”
