Scottish Regional will go ahead

BD can confirm that, as at 12 noon on Friday 26th of February, the Scottish Regional at Rowallan Activity Centre taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February will go ahead.

BD has weighed all the circumstances around the competition and has received weather information from areas across Scotland. Analysis of locations of the competitors entered and the difficulties of any rescheduling have been considered. Many of the judges are flying in from the south and it would not be possible to reschedule these within the time available. In addition the wild cards qualifications for the whole of the UK cannot be allocated until the final results are in, which would further severely restrict any options.

Currently Rowallan and the area around it is clear of snow, and there are no problems on the local roads.

BD’s Chief Executive Amanda Bond said; “Everyone travelling to the Scottish Regional should take care and if they think it might be hazardous to travel then we would urge them to re-consider the journey. We know competitors who can’t travel will be very disappointed, but it does look as though a good number will be able to contest the regional and we feel that if there is a safe chance to compete then they should have opportunity to do so.”

The Scottish Regional is the last of five Regional Championships, and entries close for the Winter Championships on Thursday 11th March. Wild cards qualifications are allocated once all Regional Championships have taken place.
