Dressage Supremo Edward Gal at the Royal Festival of the Horse

Edward Gal, one of the world’s top dressage riders, will be holding a masterclass as part of The Royal Festival of the Horse on Friday, 9 July - his only UK appearance in 2010 before the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.

The combination that has taken the dressage world by storm has won at every major competition since they burst onto the international big tour circuit just 12 months ago, toppling world records and taking World titles, European Championship medals in their stride.
Gal and Moorlands Totilas wowed Britsh crowds at Olympia in 2009 where they achieved a world-recording breaking score of 92.3% in the grand prix freestyle. In the words of Horse & Hound, Gal and Moorlands Totilas are ‘possibly the most extraordinary horse and rider combination to date.’

The Royal Festival of the Horse is a new equestrian event at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, running from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 July. Each day a different discipline, dressage, show jumping and Express Eventing – the exciting stadium format of 3-day eventing, will be showcased by internationally-renowned riders in the main arena.
Friday is dressage day (9 July). In addition to the Edward Gal demonstration, the audience will also see the UK’s top riders including Carl Hester and Laura Bechtolsheimer compete in a spectacular freestyle dressage to music and demonstrate their schooling and training methods in the main arena.
Show Jumping (Saturday 10 July) Britain’s elite show jumpers, including Tim Stockdale, Ellen Whitaker and Ben Maher, will compete in a testing 1.60m jump off competition and supporting speed class – which is sure to thrill the crowd.
Express Eventing (Sunday 11 July) The compact stadium format of 3-day eventing. Young stars of the future will compete in dressage to music, thrilling cross country and the final test - show jumping.
Around the Ground
Hundreds of stands will tempt visitors with everything horsey from saddles to sweatshirts, photos to feed and jackets to jumps. There will even be HorseBox World, where you can see all the latest developments in horse transport and legislation. Elsewhere on the showground, you can admire the showing classes traditionally held at The Royal Show including Horse of the Year Show qualifiers, visit the Heavy Horse Village and learn more about farriery. Pat and Linda Parelli, in their only European visit of 2010, will be giving talks and demonstrations on natural horsemanship in the Parelli Pavilion.
