BEF Coaching Convention 2010: Find out what UKCC can do for you

The British Equestrian Federation’s Coaching Convention, for coaches and coach developers across the disciplines, will take place on Tuesday 19th October 2010 from 9.30am – 4pm at Stareton Hall, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

The day is open to anyone and will include keynote speakers and workshop sessions focused on ways to develop the people you coach and expand your own coaching skills. This is the first event of its kind to be hosted by the BEF and the aim is to raise awareness of the UK Coaching Certificate Programme and the benefits to both teachers and pupils.

Based in Haverhill, Suffolk, dressage trainer Jill Day has ridden to grand prix level and works with riders of all abilities. She has been involved with UKCC from the beginning through her work as British Dressage director of training (2002-2008) and is now Coach Educator for the programme as well as having recently passed level three.

She commented: “I have to admit I had my doubts about UKCC when it first started and wasn’t sure it would be of any use to me - however after attending all the level three workshops, eight in total, I’ve learnt so much that it has really changed the way I teach for the better. I now believe that this is the way forward for all trainers. “

“I went with some trepidation to the assessment day but found myself quite enjoying it; I was given some really good guinea pig riders to work with and the assessors put everyone at their ease. I was very relieved to pass and can highly recommend the whole experience to anyone thinking of getting involved.”

Tickets are £65 and early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. Booking is now open – please contact Ruth Tyler in the BD office for more information: ruthtyler@britishdressage.co.uk 02476 698833
