There is no stopping Britains Fiona Bigwood since she made her comeback last weekend at Kaposvar CDI-W in Hungary after a years break to have a baby.
This weekend, Fiona rode Mr G de Lully into second place in both the grand prix and grand prix special at Aarhus CDI-W in Denmark, 20-22 October 2006. Fiona’s mother Penny owns the 13-year-old 16.1hh Swedish-bred gelding with whom she was on the British team in the 2005 European Championships. The world’s number one ranked rider, Holland’s Anky van Grunsven won both classes riding Painted Black.
Fiona also competed another horse owned by her mother. Nector van het Carelshof is the former ride of Germany’s Ingrid Klimke. The 16-year-old 17hh Belgian-bred gelding finished a respectable seventh in the World Cup freestyle qualifier with an impressive 72.3%.
British-based Finnish rider Kyra Kyrklund and Max were second in both the World Cup grand prix and World Cup qualifier behind Denmark’s Andreas Helgstrand and Blue Hors Don Schufro.
