BD seeks Communications Assistant

British Dressage is looking to fill the position of Communications Assistant.

British Dressage is the governing body for the Olympic sport of dressage and a member of the British Equestrian Federation. It is our role to foster the sport in the UK and prepare riders to compete on the International stage.

British Dressage is looking for a dynamic and creative person with excellent communication skills to fit into the British Dressage Marketing Department and fulfill the role of Communications Assistant.

Working in a young and busy office you will be involved in supporting all aspects of the Marketing & Comms department.

The successful applicant will play a leading role in the maintenance and development of our web sites and online presence. Strong design skills and creative ability are also essential to this role which will involve a high proportion of design work. You would be required to produce artwork and graphics for print and web marketing campaigns as well as a variety of promotional material and literature.

The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, is essential and the successful candidate would be expected to build strong relationships with press contacts, suppliers and colleagues within their position.

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager your responsibilities will be to:
 

  • Design, write and update pages and news stories for our busy websites
  • Create effective artwork and graphics for online and print marketing campaigns within the BD brand guidelines
  • Liaise with technical teams to problem solve, refine and build new online features and content
  • Provide first rate customer service assisting web users to login and navigate the site
  • Moderate and manage the BD forums
  • Write, design, produce and send regular e-newsletters to members
  • Assist with general marketing projects within the broader scope of the marketing department

Knowledge and experience:

  • Excellent copywriting ability
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator design packages
  • High level of computer literacy, including ability to use Microsoft Office programs and data systems.
  • Some knowledge of HTML, CMS systems and managing web site content
  • Strong sense of design, layout, navigation of web sites and on line marketing.
  • Experience of using web and graphic design programs with an understanding of web technologies and the online media industry
  • Superior organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills

BD has ambitious plans for growth and you will take a central role in delivering dynamic initiatives. Due to the nature of the sport a flexible approach to working, including some weekends and evenings is essential.

To be successful, you should have some relevant experience in design, marketing, PR or online communications. An A level in English at grade B or above is essential, an A level or equivalent in a creative subject is also desirable. Equestrian or sporting knowledge would be an advantage, although not essential.
