2010 Hartpury CDI - Davison dominates in GP & Freestyle

“That is what I have been aiming for,” said Richard Davison after the Countess of Derby’s Hiscox Artemis cruised to the win in the Grand Prix Freestyle following a win in the grand prix the previous afternoon at the 2010 Hartpury CDI 15-19 July, “I was pleased enough with his grand prix win but in the freestyle everything came together in the arena.” The eleven-year-old won the World Cup Qualifier in Lipica on his last outing and after Hickstead’s CDI next week Richard will aim at the World Cup qualifiers through the winter, “he’s has been so consistent,” added Richard who has upped the degree of difficulty of his freestyle floor plan as the Florestan gelding has matured.

Steph Croxford made a triumphant return to the saddle winning the Grand Prix Special just three weeks after the birth of second child Ben. “I was very lucky, I had an uncomplicated pregnancy and birth and most importantly stitch free,” quipped Step who was riding the ever popular Mr President, “he looked after me as he always does and he was so thrilled to be out-he goes a bit dormant when he is stuck at home and I am not joking he went from a dopey little carthorse to international grand prix horse as first sight of the shampoo and plaiting bands!” It was an impressive feat juggling two horses, two small children plus husband Simon in a small lorry over the three days but Steph managed admirably, “sadly I’ve still got the yummy mummy tummy but the midwife said I wasn’t to start doing situps for another four weeks!”

Michael Eilberg had six horses competing at Hartpury in both the CDI and Premier League with Torino crowned Small Tour Champion after winning intermediaire I and the Intermediaire I kur. Thee gelding jumped up to foxhunter level until rerouted to dressage as a six-year-old, “he was a bit fresh to start the show hence the mistakes in the psg on the first day,” said Michael, “but he got better and better. He is the nicest horse you could ever meet and hopefully he will move up to Big Tour next season. Michael also won at psg level with Woodlander Dornroeschen whose four-year-old daughter Farouche won the Four-Year-Old Shearwater Championship at the show.
