British Dressage hosts FEI pilot stewards course

The first FEI level one pilot stewards course was held at Hickstead on the 26-28 July 2010.

Lead by Jacques Van Daele and Chris Porterfield the group of 14 were given the opportunity to observe the warm up arenas, competition arenas, the trot up and visit the stabling areas. Each candidate took an entry exam, a final written exam and a final oral exam.

The course was observed by Vicky-Eileen Baumann and Harald Muller from the FEI. Vicky said that, ‘the course was very successful in all respects’.

All candidates passed their assessments and we are pleased to announce that the following GBR National stewards have been given FEI level 1 status: Geoff Simpson, Jill Chambers, Pat Layton, Mandy Heath, Verity Hindell, Sam Rowland.

If you are interested in becoming listed on the British Dressage National Steward list, please contact Ruth Tyler in the British Dressage office. Candidates will need to have shadowed one of the selected FEI stewards (Chris Porterfield, Dan Chapman or Sandy Sanderson), have some experience stewarding at affiliated dressage events and have attended the National Steward Training Day.
