'Principles of Judging Dressage' - Two day seminar at Hartpury

A two day British Dressage seminar ‘Principles of Judging Dressage’ will be held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire on 23 - 24 October 2010.
The course will be taken by FEI International Judges Jo Graham and Isobel Wessels and will cover movements up to Small Tour level.
Gillian Higgins will start the proceedings with a fascinating demonstration of how horses move by painting the skeleton and musculature on the sides of the horses. This will be followed by a discussion of the scales of training and then guinea pig horses will be used to give marks for the way of going of each pace.
There will be plenty of opportunity to see and judge tests from Elementary to PSG on videos with guidance from Jo and Isobel and other sessions will cover techniques of judging, general conduct, a discussion of movements from Medium to PSG using the FEI handbook and Para Judging. Discussion will be encouraged throughout the two days.
On the Saturday evening there will be a dinner followed by a “Question Time” when two others will join Jo and Isobel to answer questions put by the participants on any aspect of dressage.
The course fee is £80 which includes all the sessions, tea & coffee in the breaks and the dinner with a glass of wine.
To attend a single day the cost will be:
Saturday plus evening meal - £50
Saturday only without evening meal - £35
Sunday only - £35
Accommodation will be available on-site at Hartpury College at a cost of £30 per night (single rooms only) which includes breakfast. Accommodation must be booked separately through British Dressage, when booking please state clearly which nights you will be staying and your approximate arrival time. The student rooms at Hartpury are very convenient and all have an ensuite shower room and duvet and linen provided but it is advisable to take an extra blanket or second duvet.
If you wish to stay in a local B&B / hotel instead you must book your own accommodation, British Dressage have a list of local hotels available on request.
Lunch is not included on either day but participants can purchase lunch from the College Restaurant.
