WEG 2010: dressage round up - three scores in for GB
last updated on September 28, 2010 16:15
Third rider to go for team GBR in the grand prix team competition, Carl Hester held his nerve with Liebling II to produce a super score of 72.12%.
“I’m over the moon with that, it’s very difficult to keep up the expectation but I really had a lovely ride. He is such an honest horse, so workmanlike and today he was relaxed but on my aids, I couldn’t have asked for any more. I’ve only had the horse back for two months [from Cheryl Meisner who gifted him back the ride for WEG] but this was one of the best rides I’ve had on him.”

The score puts Team GBR in silver medal winning position at this part way stage behind Germany with the Swedish in bronze. The Dutch team score is now reliant on their final rider Edward Gal after Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival have been eliminated from the grand prix team competition for blood in mouth. The combination who won gold in the grand prix special at the European Champioships 2009 can take no part in the remainder of the dressage competition at WEG 2010.
The USA who are also hot on our heels are yet to post a score from their third rider and remain our closest rivals for a medal.
Team standings as of 15.45 UK time:
1. Germany: 212.89
2. GBR: 210.47
3. Sweden: 200.26
Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris will complete the final test for GB at 15.32 USA time, 20.32 GB time
