Frankfurt CDI-W: Nector van het Carelshof is too laid back

last updated on December 18, 2006 00:00

German-based British rider Fiona Bigwood is lying in third place in the World Cup standings after five of 15 competitions, having finished ninth on 69.55% in the FEI World Cup qualifier at Frankfurt CDI-W in Germany, 15-17 December 2006.

Fiona was competing at her fourth international show with the 17hh Belgian-bred gelding Nector van het Carelshof since her return to competition in October after having a year’s “baby break”.

Fiona said: “He is 16 going on six and has a reputation for being hot, but he was a bit too relaxed this time and lacked sparkle and energy, especially in the piaffe/passage tour. I didn’t rev him up enough in the warm-up - normally I have to be careful not to let him get too hot - but I am pleased that he was so rideable. We will have a break from competing over Christmas. I know what I need to work on and I’m looking forward to next year. All my horses have never gone better.”

Belgian-based British rider Wayne Channon is currently lying in fifth place in the World Cup standings.
