German-based British rider Susan Draper-Pape rode Baroncelli to victory in both the prix st georges special and intermediaire I in her first competition since last summer at the Verden international friendly in Germany, 11-14 January 2007.

The nine-year-old 16.2hh Hanoverian stallion by Bergamo scored more than 72% in the inter I. The Hanoverian Society crowned Baroncelli best stallion of the year in 2002, a title never given to a privately owned stallion before.

Susan, who moved to Germany in 1984 and spent seven years training with the world-renowned Rehbeins, said: “He is in such good shape at the moment, it was such a shame I had to retire from the show with stomach flu after just one day.”
