UKCC
As part of national initiative to standardise and benchmark the quality of sports coaching in the UK, the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) has been introduced, and will ultimately be tailored to meet the needs of all sports. Equestrian, including dressage, is in the first set of 21 priority sports to be putting the UKCC into practice. The aim is for the UKCC to be recognised as a mark of safe, quality coaching, as well as providing a clear, structured path for personal improvement for coaches.
The UKCC has a general framework of four levels of coach. These are Level 1 for assistant coaches, and Level 2, for people delivering a coaching session alone, which are both generic for the different equestrian disciplines. Level 3 is for coaches delivering an annual development programme and is dressage specific. Level 4 is still under development.
So far British Dressage has run several UKCC Level 2 and 3 workshops and assessments, which have resulted in 29 qualified Level 2 and 23 Level 3 coaches.

UKCC Level 1
Currently this level is not run by British Dressage but can be achieved through the following:

UKCC Level 2
The UKCC Level 2 is a generic coaching qualification, although not specific to Dressage it provides a firm foundation for coaching overall disciplines, this is a good way to start enhancing your coaching skills.
It is consists of 3 workshop days, and a further assessment day. As part of the course you will need to complete a portfolio which involves coaching riders. This needs to be completed and submitted on the assessment day.

• To be listed on the British Dressage Trainers Database
• To have trained at least 2 clients at affiliated dressage
• Registered with EQL
