Regional trainers club

If you teach dressage, we can offer you training and support that will advance your skills and prepare you for the introduction of the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC). Due to be implemented in 2007, this new unified structure of coaching certificates will cover all sports in Britain.

Regional training opportunities are organised by Regional Trainers Clubs (RTCs) and are open to all trainers on the BD Trainers Database as well as accredited BE and BSJA trainers. As a member of the BD Trainers Database, you will also receive regular newsletters about the latest developments regarding UKCC as well as other important news.

If you do not want to take the UKCC, you are still welcome to become a member and join in the training. You will meet like-minded trainers, have the opportunity to work on your Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and log books will be available for you to record your training, which you can use towards the UKCC.

Benefits of joining are that:

  • You will receive regular training to help you train others
  • You have a say in the training you receive and from whom
  • You are welcome to attend as many regional training days as you like in any region, not just your own
  • You will be taking part in a recognised professional development scheme, which will give you a head start when the UKCC is introduced
  • You will be able to train towards all the UKCC levels
  • You will be able to update your first aid and take child awareness courses
  • You will receive free publicity if you decide to teach at regional training sessions as these are advertised in British Dressage magazine.
  • Your details will be highlighted in the British Dressage Trainers Database booklet to indicate you are a RTC member
  • You will be invited to attend sports science seminars
  • You will be given priority seating at our national conventions

To join, you need to be:

  • 18 years old or more
  • On the BD Trainers Database, which means having an up-to-date first aid certificate, freelance trainers’ public liability insurance and a child awareness certificate if applicable
  • Prepared to make time to attend regional training days
  • Prepared to attend at least one practical training day, one sports science seminar and either the national convention or national trainers forum

For more information or to join the scheme, contact BD Sport & Technical Officer Ruth Tyler (tel: 024 76 698833).
