Young riders
The future of dressage depends on young people coming into the sport – British Dressage recognizes the importance of welcoming young riders and helping them to reach their potential. The British Young Rider Dressage Scheme (BYRDS) is dedicated to offering quality training to any rider aged 8- 25 years, whether they are looking just to have fun and improve, or have their sights set on the next Olympics.
There are plenty of camps and social events too, so rest assured, there’s more to dressage than just what happens in the arena! Get involved and you can be guaranteed, of learning loads and picking up a stack of new mates.
For those aged 18-25 years with a serious ambition for a career in the sport, British Dressage holds the annual Young Professional Awards – the winner receives a specifically designed package of opportunities, along with a share of the £5,000 prize fund which is also split with the two runners up. Not bad!
But don’t just take our word for what British Dressage can offer Young Riders – get it straight from those who know. Take a look at what just a few of our Young Riders have been doing…
