Hello everyone, my name is Elaine Gray and I am your Regional Development Officer for the North West Region. I am employed by British Dressage on a full-time basis and my responsibilities include working with organisers coordinating dates to give you maximum opportunities for competition and to ensure BD competition days are run efficiently, on good surfaces and comply with all heath and safety requirements. Therefore, should you attend a competition and feel that these priorities are not being met, please let me know.
I am also responsible for the coordination of training for judges, trainers, riders and young riders under 25 (BYRDS), in accordance with British Dressage policy guidelines. Regional training opportunities will be published on the regional web pages, please contact me should you require further information on any the events detailed.
You also have a North West Regional Committee working with me to provide specialist technical advice and to help me promote and develop opportunities relevant to their area of responsibility.

North West BYRDS see out 2008 in style!!
The presentation evening for NW BYRDS was held in the picturesque
Crewe Hall in Cheshire and proved to be a fantastic success.
Team members were rewarded for all their hardwork by receiving framed
certificates presented by Maria Eilberg, the 2008 National Dressage
champion and reserve for the 2008 Olympic team.
NW BYRDS had a most successful year winning team Gold at the Necarne
dressage festival (Amber Barton, Ellie Jolleys, Katie Hughes, Sam
Morrison). Winning Young Rider team at Marlton U25 championships ( Jessica Dunn,
Alex Topham, Katie Keenan, Sarah Higgins). Winning team at the BYRDS
Inter-regionals ( Darcas Lever, Kirsty Imm, Ellie Jolleys, Laura
Cornthewaite and having 3 individual winners at the inaugural English
Home International (Chloe Vell, Ellie Jolleys, Jessica Dunn).
Not forgetting the North West’s International Riders, Georgie Starkie
on ponies, Darcas Lever for Juniors and the selection of Jessica Dunn
for the youth Olympics 2009.
The evening was arranged to thank all the riders for their enthusiasm
and dedication over the year.
We also said a sad farewell to Janet Horswill as NW BYRDS rep as she
takes on a national role but welcome Moira Lafferty into her place.
Dancing continued until late.
Thanks to all trainers, parents and sponsors who have made 2008 a
year to remember. We look forward to 2009 !!
Due to the growth of dressage and the constantly increasing demand for more training opportunities and competitions in the region our NW Regional vounteer network is invaluable - if you would like to join our team of regional volunteers, please - CLICK HERE – download the form, complete and email it to Elaine Gray @ elainegray@britishdressage.co.uk

BYRDS FUNDRAISING
Each year we try to raise funds through our catering at the BYRDS camps and the NW Regional Championships. This money is always re-invested to provide continuous training opportunities for our young riders. More help is always appreciated either in the form of donations of food and/or cakes or if you can spare a few hours at any of these events to work in the kitchen that is also very welcome. Please contact Elaine if you can offer support – Many thanks

Great Sport Needs Great Coaches!!!
The Regional Trainers Club is for all trainers on the BD database and accredited BE and BSJA trainers. It is a scheme which offers great opportunities to develop coaching skills. With the introduction of the UKCC (UK Coaching Certificate) we aim to provide the training required to attain the necessary skills at each level in order to achieve the UKCC. Even if you choose not to take the UKCC you are still welcome to be a member of the RTC and to join in the training to work for your own continuing professional development (CPD). As a BD registered trainer you will automatically be included in the club.
Numerous events of varied content are held throughout the region. For their success and development we need the continuing support of generous sponsors.
Join our team of NW Regional sponsors for 2009 and become more involved in the sport, supporting our training and competition programmes. For more information or to discuss the potential marketing opportunities for your business, please contact Elaine Gray on 079688 19406 or elainegray@britishdressage.co.uk - Many Thanks
