Addington Premier League: Mr Hyde triumphs

Popular rider, Steph Croxford, and the charismatic gelding Mr Hyde, sealed Grand Prix victory last Saturday at the Addington Premier League show in Buckinghamshire, 6-8 May 2016.

The pair (pictured) earned 71.33% for a three percent lead in the 18-strong Grand Prix, breaking their bout of ‘seconditis’ which struck them at Addington, Bury Farm and Vale View High Profile Shows and thus securing their ticket to the LeMieux National Championships in September.

The attractive Hackney x Dutch Warmblood 11-year-old, with his boundless enthusiasm and flair for piaffe and passage, is really coming into his own at Grand Prix. Brought through the ranks by Steph from a novice, he looks set to fill the big shoes of the now retired Mr President and is gaining his own legion of admiring fans.

Steph and ‘Clyde’, as he’s known at home, notched up their first internationals in 2015, and this year have achieved placings at both Lier CDI3* in Belgium and Keysoe CDI3* in Bedfordshire.

Winner of the Pony Team Test was 13-year-old Gemma Owen, daughter of former Liverpool and Manchester United striker and England captain, Michael Owen. Gemma rode Der Kleine Lord, her nine-year-old German-bred gelding to score 70.38% to edge ahead of Charlotte McDowall with new ride, Cruz III, Charlotte Dujardin’s seven-year-old son of Caesar 171.
