RoR Performance Awards - all you need to know

For 2017, Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) - British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses who've retired from racing - has modified its dressage performance awards.

Run in association with British Dressage, the Elite Performance Award celebrates the versatility and adaptability of the thoroughbred racehorse and shows what can be achieved with correct training and a good horse-rider rapport.

And with standard getting ever higher, from this year the Elite Performance Award for Dressage will now be purely for horses at Elementary level and above, whilst a brand new accolade for novice horses – the RoR Novice Dressage Horse Award – has been created for former racehorses who are starting out in the sport.

Elite Performance Horse Award
For horses who have raced in Great Britain.

RoR will be offering a serious prize of £2,500 to the winner of the Elite Performance Award for Dressage, for horses competing at Elementary and above. To be eligible horses must be fully registered with BD and RoR, and riders must have Full BD membership.

The winner will be the horse and rider combination gaining the highest percentage from their top five BD scores from 1 January to 31 October 2017.

RoR Novice Dressage Horse Award
For horses who have raced in Great Britain, abroad, and un-raced horses.

In 2017, RoR will offer a generous prize of £500 to the winner of the brand new RoR Novice Dressage Horse Award. To be eligible, horses must be fully registered with BD and RoR, and riders must be Full BD members. The winner will be the horse and rider combination with the highest number of BD Novice points gained from 1 January to 31 October 2017.

Both awards will be presented a glittering Awards Ceremony towards the end of 2017.

To find out more about both awards, please contact Karen Beaumont: karen.beaumont@britishdressage.co.uk putting 'RoR Dressage Series' in the subject bar.

And apply by emailing your 2017 Elite Performance Horse or RoR Novice Horse registration form to Margaret O’Sullivan mosullivan@ror.org.uk
