Youth Assessor Coach Training

In order to coach and/or assess BD Youth riders, workforce are required to hold certain pre-requisites and attend training.

All trainers working with BD riders under the age of 18 must be listed on the Trainer's Database, maintain compliance (including DBS) and evidence attendance at Coaching Young People training. 

Those wishing to be listed as Youth Assessor Coaches will also be required to attend a Youth Rider Skills Test Assessor training. 

Please note: Being listed as a Youth Assessor Coach does not guarantee that you will be asked to be involved with all regional training. We advise that you also seek further development opportunities where you deem that this is necessary, this may involve assisting with, or shadowing experienced Assessors at, regional activities or squad assessment days. 

Coaching Young People
training days will usually run from 10am to 4.30pm and modules will cover areas such as:
- Communicating with young riders
- Developing engaging coaching sessions
- Rider alignment and development
- Understanding the BD Squads and standards
- Roles and Responsibilities of a BD Youth Coach

Rider Skills Test Assessor training days will usually run from 10am to 4pm and modules wil cover areas such as:
- Providing inspirational feedback
- How to be a test assessor and Rider Skills Test update
- Assessing rider alignment and it's impact on the horse's way of going
- Roles and Responsibilities of a BD Youth Assessor
