Young Judges

Did you know that you are eligible to register and become a judge from the age of 18?
Many riders include judging as well as riding in their busy schedules so why don't you give it a go too?

You could even aim to progress right from judging local shows all the way to travelling the world attending CDI competitions as an FEI judge.
Many riders find that Judge training also helps to develop their test riding and gives an insight into what the Judge is looking for when competing.
Riders and coaches are also invited to attend regional Judge training events and the National Judge training opportunities - the Principles of Judging (in Autumn) or the Judges Convention (in Spring).

Through our training programmes it can take only six to eight months to become a listed judge. In order to start working towards Judge exams you will be required to be at least a Premier Club member of British Dressage and register as a Trainee Judge for an annual fee of £15 (from 3 June 2019). One of the best ways to gain experience of judging is next to the Judge at C. There are plenty of opportunities both at your local venues and at bigger competitions you gain experience of writing for judges at various levels.

Do remember that if you are aged under 18 you will need parent/guardian permission to write at affiliated competitions, firstly make sure the venue and the Judge are happy to have a minor writing for them and then make sure you gain written consent.
