Squadding
BD Youth have a series of squads from D Squad to A Squad. Riders are eligible for D squad squad until the end of the year of their 11th birthday. Therefafter riders can come forward to any squad level regardless of age.  THE SQUADS are basically a framework for progress within the BD Youth structure, to encourage riders to develop and improve as riders and horsemen. Riders are squadded using the rider squad test. The rider tests have been designed to show the judge(s) how well a rider can influence their horse's way of going through a supple and correct seat, good preparation and a good relationship with their horse. Although the tests may appear relatively simple, they are constructed in a way that requires a great deal of skill to be able to ride them fluently and easily. From a marking point of view the test is split into three clear sections: The seat and effectiveness of the aids, rider's influence on way of going and rider's control of movements in test.

Come along to a squad training day to be squadded or re-assesed.

Squad tests have been updated for 2019 - click here to purchase a copy from the shop

** Volunteer of the Month Award **

Without volunteers, dressage could not function as a sport. Did you know that, at competitions, all scorers, stewards, runners, writers and many of the show secretaries do their job simply for the love of the sport.

Each month we announce our Nirvana Spa Volunteer of the Month, where they'll receive a certificate and trophy plus more! But we can't do this without your help!

Is there someone you'd like to thank for helping settle your competition nerves, or someone who has helped you get to the arena on time? Have your say and email your nomination to today! Click here to download a nomination form.
