After being crowned double World Champion in Herning, Lottie Fry continued the 2022 outdoor season in resounding style at the National Hippic Centre in Ermelo. Together with winning the 7YO World Young Horse title with Kjento, the 26-year-old Brit took charge in the CDI3* winning both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle with her Tokyo and 2021 European Championships partner, Everdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro).

Lottie and the exuberant black KWPN stallion, owned by Van Olst Horses, hit the ball out of the park with a 76.130% win in the Grand Prix, ahead of Denmark’s Andreas Helgstrand aboard the exciting eight-year-old mare, Queenparks Wendy (Sezuan x Blue Hors Soprano) on 73.043%.

The British pairing, the following day, completed their show with a thrilling win in the Freestyle scoring 84.335% to take the Ermelo freestyle crown ahead of Australia’s Simone Pearce and Fiderdance (78.565%). Lottie and ‘Evert’, as Everdale is known at home, rode to their acclaimed Tokyo programme featuring music by Kygo and Whitney Houston and Rihanna. The supreme focus and poise shown through the sustained piaffe and passage section was outstanding, as was the partnership and expression displayed throughout the entire performance.

“This may have been one of his best tests ever!” Lottie told Ermelo. “He was so relaxed and so powerful at the same time. He enjoyed the arena to the fullest. I think he has been waiting for this moment for a few months, as he’s had to stay home while I’ve taken other horses to shows. This was his moment to shine, and he absolutely loved it. It was fantastic to be here in front of all his Dutch fans, especially since he is a breeding stallion.

“We can always do better, so we keep working on that. For now, I am very satisfied. I hope to enter Everdale in a few World Cup qualifiers in the coming season, so he can shine even more!”
