New regional chair for Scotland
British Dressage is delighted to announce that a familiar face to the Scottish region and the Regional Committee has been selected as the new Chairman for the country. Caroline Paterson, who’s been an active Judges Representative since 2018, will take on the Chairmanship from 1 January 2021. The vacancy arose due to a family move south of the border for the current Chair, Sharon Lindop.

FEI World Breeding Championships cancelled
We received the sad news yesterday evening that the organising committee, the WBFSH and the FEI made the decision to cancel this year’s FEI WBFSH World Breeding Championships for Young Horses due to be held in Verden (GER), 9 – 13 December.

BEF update: Activity in England post-lockdown
The government announced details of the revised three tier alert system for England earlier today and which areas would fall into each tier. The positive news is that equestrian activity can largely continue within number and setting restrictions based on the area’s tier level. Current lockdown restrictions remain in place until 00.01 on Wednesday 2 December and should be followed until then.

A new chapter for dressage at Hickstead
Dressage will continue at one of the country’s most famous showgrounds, with the All England Jumping Course set to host a Premier League show in May 2021. The three-day fixture (21-23 May) will include classes from Advanced Medium to Grand Prix, with entries expected from a number of British Dressage’s leading riders.

Get Ready For Brexit
While dealing with the coronavirus pandemic has understandably been foremost in people’s minds, there are just over five weeks remaining now until we officially leave the European Union. Negotiations between the British government and the EU around a potential future trade agreement remain ongoing, so we are still unable to provide definitive guidance.

BD update: activity post-lockdown in England
Following the Prime Minister’s update to parliament yesterday and the release of the government’s COVID-19 Winter Plan, we’re delighted to confirm that British Dressage activity can resume again in England when the lockdown restrictions are lifted at 00:01 on Wednesday 2 December.

Woodhead wows at Vale View HP
Amy Woodhead owned the Vale View High Profile show as she romped to victory with six wins and a significant number of high placings. In most of the classes she had two rides and rode a total of four horses. Quite a feat!

Online show added by Dressage Anywhere
Ready to compete but nowhere to go? A dedicated BD Members online show has been launched by Dressage Anywhere and entries are now open. Competing online will never replace live shows but this show gives all BD members the opportunity to be prepared for when they are able to go out again.
