The British team made a powerful mark at the second leg of the 2026 FEI Nations Cup, turning Lier (21–24 May) into a showcase of strength with podium finishes. Delivering under pressure against top international competition, the squad combined consistency and flair to secure standout results.

It has been a busy month in the international calendar, with combinations competing across Europe for the CDI Las Cadenas, Spain (6 – 10 May), CDI Aalborg, Denmark (11 – 17 May) and CDI Hamburg, Germany (12 – 17 May).

Last week, our international senior riders took to Hickstead for the second domestic CDI of the season, supporting huge entries as we returned to the iconic venue for three days of world-class performances (11 – 17 May).

The youth riders at Hickstead CDI (11 – 17 May) delivered a compelling showcase of emerging talent, featuring competitive and inspiring performances from start to finish in outstanding international debut appearances and dazzling freestyle displays.

As a result of the increase in reported cases of equine influenza, the Equine Infectious Diseases Action Group has recommended that there needs to be a period of increased vigilance and monitoring to help prevent a further spread of the disease.

Back at the iconic venue for the first time since 2024, the Chart Stables International Dressage Festival hosted the Hickstead Premier League (13 - 17 May). Across five days of competition, the show delivered world-class performances from both established partnerships and rising stars.

Leading the way at our second domestic international fixture of the season, our para riders impressed judges across three days (12-15 May), with seven British riders securing a hat-trick of wins on home soil at Hickstead.

A brilliant few days were had the Red Gorilla Combined Training Championships, held at Weston Lawns Equestrian in Warwickshire (8 – 10 May 2026) where our multitalented combinations showcased their dressage and showjumping skills.

As of 7 May, the Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance group has been notified of 44 laboratory-confirmed equine influenza outbreaks in 28 counties across the UK since early April.
