Supporting performance through science, innovation and horse welfare
At HUSK, every product begins with one question:
How can equipment better support the horse?
Founded by Louise Butcher, whose background spans more than a decade in the medical industry, HUSK combines scientific thinking, veterinary collaboration and British craftsmanship to develop equestrian equipment that works with the horse's natural physiology—not against it.
Inspired by the experience of Louise's Thoroughbred, Tia, and developed alongside internationally respected polo veterinarians, including Dr Jorge MacDonough (La Dolfina, La Irenita and Ellerstina), HUSK products are engineered around three fundamental principles: thermoregulation, biomechanics and horse welfare.

Supporting natural thermoregulation
Research has shown that moving air across the skin plays a vital role in dissipating heat. As Dr Simone Westermann of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna observed:
"I was surprised at how fast the temperature decreased after the onset of airflow."
Inspired by this natural process, HUSK developed its proprietary 6-Dimensional Airflow Technology™.
Unlike conventional enclosed materials, HUSK's unique porous structure promotes continuous airflow throughout the entire fabric. As warm air and moisture move away from the skin, cooler ambient air circulates through the material, supporting the horse's natural thermoregulatory processes during exercise and recovery.
Designed around the horse
Exceptional performance depends on unrestricted movement.
Working with Dr Jorge MacDonough, HUSK placed particular emphasis on proprioception—the horse's natural awareness of limb position and movement.
Every HUSK product is engineered to be lightweight, flexible and anatomically shaped to help minimise interference with natural biomechanics.
Bespoke elastic fastening systems help reduce the risk of over-tightening, while wide fastening straps distribute pressure across a greater surface area for improved comfort and stability.
Every detail matters
Every component has been selected with purpose.
HUSK's technical spacer fabrics are manufactured in the United Kingdom using the same family of advanced textiles developed for demanding aerospace and defence applications. Wherever possible, these premium materials are upcycled, reducing waste while supporting a more sustainable future.
Hook-and-loop fastenings, bindings and technical components are sourced from trusted British suppliers for exceptional durability and consistency, while every product is handcrafted by skilled UK stitchers whose experience includes producing luxury goods for brands such as Mulberry.
Using the same trusted suppliers for every production run ensures the consistent quality that riders can rely on.
Evidence before assumption
Science has guided HUSK from the very beginning.
Products are developed through veterinary collaboration, independent scientific evaluation and real-world field studies, including BS EN ISO 3386-1 laboratory impact testing, veterinary-supervised thermal imaging and practical case evaluations across multiple equestrian disciplines.
Innovation should always be supported by evidence.
British innovation. Trusted worldwide.
Designed and manufactured in Britain, HUSK products are trusted by riders across the world, including horses owned by royal families and elite international competitors.
